How to convert a case to a breach

A breach notice is formal and will result in a letter is being issued.

(From tenancy service) The Act sets out the rights and responsibilities of landlords and tenants. When someone doesn’t follow the rules, it’s a breach of the Act. Someone can breach the Act by:

  • Not doing what they’re supposed to do.
  • Doing something they’re not allowed to do.
  • Adding unenforceable clauses to the tenancy agreement.
  1. Click on Tenancies under Housing to view all current Tenancies.
  2. Search or find the Tenancy you wish to convert a breach for.
  3. Click the CASES tab from the top menu.


  4. In the All Cases table, double click to open the case you wish to convert to a breach.


  5. At the top, select Create Breach.
