Transferring data from your old work phone

Once you have finished setting up your new work phone, you can use Samsung Smart Switch to transfer all your data including texts from your old phone.

Your new phone should have Smart Switch already installed. You can find this by swiping up on the home screen of your new phone and typing in the search “smart switch”.

You may need to install Smart Switch on your old phone to send the data to your new phone. You can do this by going to Settings > Accounts and backup > Bring data from old device.

Your phone will prompt you to download Smart Switch, or it will open Smart Switch if it is already installed. Press Agree to install.

Once it is installed you can open it and then press continue to accept the terms and conditions and then Allow on the next screen to accept the permissions that Smart Switch requires. These are needed to transfer your data.

You want to have Smart Switch open on both devices. After accepting the T&Cs, you should see a screen that has two options – Send from this phone and Receive on this phone.

On your old phone:

• Press Send from this phone
• Select Wireless
• It will use your camera to prompt you to scan QR code

On your new phone:

• Press Receive on this phone
• Select Galaxy/Android for source
• Select Wireless
• It will give you a QR code to scan. Hold your old phones camera over the QR code on the new phone

It will now scan the old phone data and figure out what data it needs to transfer. On your new phone, it will ask what data you would like to transfer – select what you need and then go next and it will start the transfer process which will take some time to complete depending on how much it needs to transfer.
