Follow along for a step by step guide on installing Zoom on a Wise Group computer.
Although you can use Zoom through a browser such as Chrome or Edge, it is a better experience to download and install the Zoom app.
There are some common troubleshooting tips at the end of this article.
The easiest way to start the installation is to click on a Zoom Meeting link in a zoom meeting email. It looks like this:
If you don't have a meeting link, you can download the app from this link here Zoom.US
Installing the Zoom Client
When using a meeting link, you will be prompted to download the app. Where it says "Don't have Zoom Client installed?" Click the Download Now link.
A small file will download onto your computer. In chrome it will appear in the bottom left hand corner.
In Edge the app will appear in the top right hand corner.
Click on the downloaded file to start installing Zoom. Some machines may have HP protection from downloading files. If you see the HP Sure Click pop up, Click Remove protection and open.
Zoom will begin installing.
Once finished, you will be prompted to enter a Name. Choose carefully, as all participants will see this.
When you are ready to join the meeting, click on Join with Computer Audio.
On some computers, Windows Defender may ask you to allow access. Click Cancel and you will be allowed to join the meeting.
You will then be in the Zoom Meeting.
Trouble shooting
If necessary, you can also join from a browser rather than installing the Zoom Client. Click on Join from your Browser after clicking on the Zoom Meeting link.
You may get a pop up when trying to join the meeting. Click Open if you see this notification.
You may be prompted to allow Zoom to use your microphone and camera. Click Allow. Remember, the etiquette for large meetings is to mute your microphone and turn off video.
Happy Zooming!
