You can change your Zoom background by blurring what’s behind you or choosing a different background. This can be done before or during a meeting.
Please note: Zoom may change how things look or where options are located. The steps may look slightly different depending on your version of Zoom.
Change your background before joining a meeting
Using your own background? Save your image as a JPG, JPEG, or PNG file before you start.
- Open Zoom Meeting

Before you join the meeting, select Backgrounds
- Choose the background you want to use:
- To blur your background, select Blur
- To use one of Zoom’s backgrounds, select the image you like

To use your own background, select Add image, then choose an image file from your computer
- Close the settings window, then click Join to enter the meeting

Click the arrow next to the video camera, located at the bottom of the Zoom window
- Select Video & effects Settings
- Choose the background you want to use:
- To blur your background, select Blur
- To use one of Zoom’s backgrounds, select the image you like

To use your own background, select Add image, then choose an image file from your computer
