How to complete a Join-Out

A join-out is a process. It is where we remove a signatory from a household where there are two or more signatories residing. This process needs to go through MSD to remove the tenant from the household. This guidance will show you how to complete a join-out in Zavanti.

  1. Click on Tenancies under Housing to view all current tenancies.
  2. Select the tenancy you would like to remove a signatory household member from.
  3. Navigate to the Household tab.
  4. Click the tenancy title under the heading HOUSEHOLD in the first table.
    Note: If you want to remove a primary tenant, you must first ensure that there is another primary tenant. How to add a primary tenant.


  5. In the second table, Household Members, double-click the tenant to remove them from the household.
  6. Untick Head of the Household? and ensure that Signatory Flag is changed to No

  7. Save and Close
  8. In the top table, select amend.


  9. Fill in the following:
    • Date of Amendment (this should autogenerate to today’s date)
    • Effective Date of Amendment
    • Amendment Reason (choose one that lines up with a tenant leaving) 
  10. A pop-up will appear, select OK to continue.
  11. In the second table, MSD Household Assessment, select + New MSD Household Assessment


  12. Fill in the following:
    • Date referred to MSD.
    • Date MSD Assessment.
    • HH Member  (use the magnifying glass to add the member you want to remove)
  13. Save.
  14. After saving, an MSD assessment will appear. Use the drop-down and choose ‘Change to HH Number Approved’.
  15. A pop-up will ask you to confirm the amendment. Click OK to continue.


  16. The system will begin processing. PLEASE WAIT for the red banner on top to disappear before continuing.


  17. You will be returned to the previous household screen.

Note: If you removed the head of the household, you need to click on the remaining tenant and change them to head of household.

Note: If you chose a future date, the household update will remain in a draft format until the effective date.
