Set background in Teams video meetings

You can choose to blur your background in a Microsoft Teams video meeting, or choose a custom backdrop.

Prior to joining a meeting

After you click to join a Teams meeting you will see an options screen.  Click on Background filters.

You can choose to blur, pick a background, or Add a new background with a picture of your choosing.  Make sure the files are .JPG, .PNG, or .BMP files.

Close the background settings window by clicking the 'X' in the corner, and select Join Now when you are satisfied with your background to Join the meeting.

During a meeting

To change your background during a meeting, click on the ellipses (three dots) for more options, then click on Video effects and settings.

Add a new background, choose blur, remove your background or select from one of the options available.  You can Preview how the background will look.  When you are satisfied, click Apply.
