You can choose to blur your background in a Microsoft Teams video meeting, or choose a custom backdrop. This can be done before you join the meeting or during.
Setting a background before you enter the meeting
1. If you want to use a custom background, first download the image and save it somewhere you can easily access it.
Note: The image file type will need to be either .JPG, .PNG OR .BMP
2. When you join a Teams meeting you will see an options screen. Click on Background filters.
3. You can choose to blur, pick a background, or Add a new background with a picture of your choosing. Select Add new to select a custom background, search for the saved image file from step 1.
4. Close the background settings window by clicking the 'X' in the corner, and select Join Now when you are satisfied with your background to Join the meeting.
Setting a background during a meeting
1. If you want to use a custom background, first download the image and save it somewhere you can easily access it.

2. While you are in the meeting, click on the ellipses (three dots) for more options, then click on Video effects and settings.
3. You can choose to blur, pick a background, or Add a new background with a picture of your choosing. Select Add new to select a custom background, search for the saved image file from step 1.
If your background is showing backwards: Open Video effects and settings turn off Mirror my video.
