With your files now in the cloud, it's even easier to share within, and outside of, the group. The following steps will email a link to anyone outside the company. No more worrying about emailing gargantuan files!
In windows explorer, right click on the file you would like to share and select "Share"
No not that one....this one.
Or from OneDrive on the Web
A pop up window will give you more options for sharing. Click on the security level to change.
For external sharing, ensure the security level is set to Specific People. Then choose whether the recipient will have editing rights or not.
Begin typing the email address of the recipient, Click the correct address below it to add the recipient. You can then add more recipients if required.
You can add a note to the file share for the recipients.
Click Send to automatically create and send an email to the recipient with a link to the shared resource. Alternatively, you can also click Copy Link to be pasted in a separate email or document, or click Outlook which will open Outlook and create a blank email with the link already in it.
What will the recipient see?
The external recipient will get an email with an "Open" link to click on to access the file. They will need to go through an authentication process to get to the file.
Clicking on the Open link will bring up a security pop up. They will need to enter the same email address the file was sent to.
A verification code will be sent to their email
They will enter this code into the security pop up
Once the code is verified, the file will open on their computer. You will also receive a notification that the file has been accessed.
