How to use document version control within the intranet

Follow

Automatic version control is in place for the intranets that have been migrated to SharePoint 2013 (The Well – Wise Group, Pathways, Tauhere – Te Pou, Le Va, Blueprint, Keys Social Housing, Wise Management Services, Linkage and Real). This means documents can be worked on collaboratively, you no longer need to rename your document or track changes, and you are guaranteed to always be reviewing the latest version.

Every library will be set up with major versions, so if you’ve made changes unintentionally, you can go back to the previous version and go from there.

To review the version control of a document, find the document on your entity intranet, click on the ellipsis (looks like ‘…’) and a pop up will appear with details about the document. Find the ellipsis again on this pop up and click on it. This will give you further information about the document. Click on ‘Version History’ to view version information.

If you wish to return to a previous version, click on the relevant version link under the ‘Modified’ column. Once you have finished working in the document, click ‘Save’.

By clicking on Version History you will get the following type of information.
