Tēnā koutou katoa,
Here’s a couple of quick bites for Māori language week. First up, a WiseUp! article on how to add macrons to your text (you know, those dashes above vowels, ā, ē, ī, ō, ū).
https://wiseup.wisegroup.co.nz/hc/en-us/articles/202647114-How-to-use-macrons-on-your-computer
Not only will this help you type macrons on the fly, the article also explains how you can load the Māori dictionary to spell check Te Reo in apps such as Microsoft Word.
Get Autocorrect to be helpful, for once
Do you sometimes (ok, frequently) forget to put those macrons in place? Add a safety net to your autocorrect dictionary, so that if for example you forget and type in Kakariki (gasp!), Microsoft Word and Outlook will automagically change it to Kākāriki for you.
Ngā mihi,
